The New Health Care Bill will change America forever

Editorial

As I write t his Representatives in Congress are holding closed-door meetings on the new health care reform bill. This bill will change forever what it was to be an American with the freedom of choice. If passed, this legislation will contain a section that prohibits future amendments.

This means, as Americans, we can change our constitution, but this health care reform bill can NEVER be changed. Not only will this bill be un-amendable, it will make health insurance mandatory for all Americans. If you do not purchase the new government health care plan, you will be taxed. Didn’t our forefathers have a “Tea Party” in Boston for similar issues? Does the idea of having the government make choices about your health make you feel incompetent? If the government decides smoking is not good for you, will they close down all the cigarette manufacturers?

What about that cold beer you enjoy on a hot summers day after you mow the lawn? Alcohol in moderation is not a problem, but it could be outlawed as not good for your health. And then there are those Americans who like to pursue an alternative health care plan. They do not want to take the prescribed drugs, preferring to use herbs, vitamins and other alternative choices. Where do they fit in with the “freedom of Choice” we as Americans once had? House Bill 3200 will put in place health care rationing; page 29 lines 4–16 states that you will only be able to receive so much health care per person or family per year, and on page 30 a committee will decide what benefits and treatments you will receive.

On page 42, the Health Care Commissioner will choose your healthcare benefits for you – you have no choice. Page 58 will give the government real-time access to your financial accounts to see if you can afford a specific service at a specific time by a specific physician. You will be issued a National Health I.D. card and on page 59, 21-24 states the government will have direct access to your bank accounts for elective funds transfers. These are just a few of the key points of the plan.

I urge you to go on line and read HR 3200. This bill is a very long bill but well worth the read. If you are in agreement, do nothing; however, if you are shocked or upset by your freedom of choice that is slipping away, call your representative and tell them to vote no on this bill. We were promised change. Is this change the America you want? Is this the America our young men are dying for? Is this the America the older generation grew up in? The younger generation is ready to accept this plan.

They believe we have a government that is big enough to take care of everything. They need to realize, it is also big enough to take it all away. Again, read the bill, be informed, do not let a politician, with no medical background, decide your health care plan. The present plan we are now working under may not be perfect, but you do have the freedom of choice. In this case, one size does not fit all.
